Greenfield Twp. Discusses Employee Health Insurance

The Greenfield Township Board of Supervisors voted to add batting cages to the upper ballfield at the Claysburg Community Park. The action was taken during the board’s regular monthly meeting on Nov. 1, according to township secretary-treasurer Ami Fether.

In addition, they approved the purchase of two musical instruments for a music garden for children to play with at the community park. The instruments will be paid for by the Bob Gordon family and installed by the township.

The township accepted the resignation of Terri Lingenfelter as Emergency Management Coordinator. Joe Claar was appointed to fill the position.

James Betar was appointed to fill a vacant auditor position.

A new copier was purchased for the township office on a 63-month lease. The old machine will replace a copier in the police department.

Adjustments were made to the township’s healthcare policy so that supervisors would not be eligible for coverage unless they work full time for the township.

In addition, any township employee who declines health insurance for the year will be eligible to receive a $2,500 lump sum payment at the end of the year. The option had already been available to uniformed employees.

The township moved to advertise for bids for old HVAC equipment. Bids will be opened at the Dec. 6 meeting.

Supervisors purchased a $50 half page advertisement in the Claysburg Area Community Theatre’s “Elf the Musical” program.
