Card Playing on Sunday

We are sorry to say that some of our men have been going to the mountain on Sunday for the practice of playing cards. Don’t you know you are causing the hearts of your wives and mothers to be very sad. And furthermore, you are breaking one of God’s commands. “Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy.”

Newry is without a physician and the residents of that locality are anxious that one should locate there–a married man preferred.

Professor Bobb, of the high school of Altoona, has told the members of the football team that they can no longer play under the name of the High school. His action was the result of students’ parents protesting against the game.

While engaged in planting onions, Mrs. Ed. Kegarise laid the usual board which divided the beds, and walking thereon, a nail protruded, and entered the sole of her foot, eventually causing her death from tetanus. None will be more missed in good works than Sadie Kegarise.
