Lady Dragon Volleyball Plays In Nail-Biters

The Lady Dragon Volleyball team came out from a two-match week with one win and one loss. The Lady Dragons were defeated early in the week in a 3-0 loss to the Richland Lady Rams, but narrowly pulled out a 3-2 victory over the Bishop Carroll Lady Huskies.

Throughout all three sets against the Rams, the Dragons remained close to victory, but fell just short at the end of each of the sets, losing 25-22 in the first, then 25-23 in the next two. Alex Klotz had 10 good serve receptions and 12 good digs, while Payton Gregg had 13 good serve receptions and nine good digs. Kaitlyn Weitzel had 10 good digs herself, while Kirsten Ayers had five aces throughout the night. Central’s JV pulled out the win, winning the first and third sets 25-15 and 15-10 respectively.

The next match against the Huskies was also a close game throughout all the sets, but the Dragons were able to pull off a win through five sets. After losing the first, the Lady Dragons won the second and third sets 25-22 and 25-19. Losing the fourth set led to a final fifth set where the Dragons won 15-6. Klotz connected well on 25 serve receptions and had 11 good digs. Madison Kennedy had 12 kills, 17 good serve receptions and eight good digs herself, while Ayers had 14 kills. Weitzel had 38 assists throughout the game, while also having 13 kills and five aces. The JV team also won, winning in the first and third sets with scores of 25-15 and 15-10.

With a record of 4-9, the Dragons now prepare for three away matches in the next week against the Chestnut Ridge Lady Lions, the Westmont Hilltop Lady Hilltoppers, and the Central Cambria Lady Red Devils.
