Lady Dragon Volleyball Loses in Nail-Biter

The Central Lady Dragon Volleyball team faced three opponents throughout the week. They started the week off against the Cambria Heights Lady Highlanders, winning in a 3-0 set sweep. In the next week, the Lady Dragons lost in a 3-0 sweep to the Penn Cambria Lady Panthers. In the last game of the week against the Bishop McCourt Lady Crushers, the Lady Dragons held a lead early in the match, only to fall short at the end, losing 3-2.

Against the Lady Highlanders, the Lady Dragons won the match in just three sets, winning 25-13, 25-14 and 25-13 again in the last set. Kirsten Ayers had six kills and four aces for the Lady Dragons. Heather Brumbaugh had eight kills, four aces, and six solo stuffs. Kaitlyn Weitzel had 23 assists, 14 good digs and three aces herself, while Alex Klotz had eight good serve receptions and seven good digs. 

The Lady Dragons lost to the Lady Panthers in three sets. The first and second sets were 25-17 and 25-15 respectively. In the third set however, the Lady Dragons almost made a comeback, but falling just short, losing 26-24. Madison Kennedy had 14 good digs, while Klotz had 16 good digs and 23 good serve receptions.

The Lady Dragons lost in the first set against the Lady Crushers 25-15. Central was able to take a lead shortly after by winning the next two sets 25-20 and 25-16. The Lady Crushers won the fourth set 25-20, leaving everything up to the last set. Sadly, the Lady Dragons lost the last set 15-11. Kennedy led the Lady Dragons with 15 kills and 27 good serve receptions. Ayers had six kills and three aces, while Brumbaugh had two solo stuffs and two assisted stuffs. Weitzel had 30 assists, six kills and three aces herself. Klotz had 28 good serve receptions and 32 good digs as well.

The week leaves the Lady Dragons with a record of 2-4, heading into next week where they will face the Bishop Guilfoyle Lady Marauders and the Forest Hills Lady Rangers.
