The Central Tennis team started its week of three matches against the Forest Hills Lady Rangers, winning all five matches in a complete shutout victory. Against the Somerset Lady Eagles, the Lady Dragons were only able to win one of the five matches, taking a 4-1 loss. The Lady Dragons rounded out the week at home against the Westmont Hilltop Lady Hilltoppers, pulling out ahead in the end to squeak out a 3-2 victory.
At the start of the week, the Lady Dragons completely dominated on the court. In the first singles match, Julia Ritchey won in two sets, winning 6-4, then the second 6-2. Ashlyn Renner won in two sets as well, winning 6-3, then 6-2. Brooklyn Coppersmith won the last singles match for the Lady Dragons in just two sets again, winning 6-2 and 6-0. In the doubles matches, Adacyn James teamed with Kate Dunn to seize victory in two shutout sets, winning both 6-0. Zoe Grill made her first varsity appearance teaming with Kimmy Yingling to win the second doubles match in two sets, 6-1 and 6-0.
Kaylee Cole and Yinging teamed to obtain the only win for the Lady Dragons in the second doubles match in two sets, winning 6-3 and 6-4. Annabel Shippey won in her exhibition match as well.
Ritchey started off by winning the first singles match in two sets with 6-1 and 6-2 victories. With no more wins in the singles matches, the Dragons trailed by a point heading into the doubles competitions. James and Dunn teamed again to seize victory in two sets, winning each with a score of 6-3. Tied, Cole and Yingling teamed again in the final match, winning in two sets 7-5 and 7-6.
Ending the week with a record of 3-3, the Lady Dragon Tennis team has an away match against the Bishop Guilfoyle Lady Marauders at Penn State Altoona, followed by a home match against the Richland Lady Rams later in the week.
