Alpha Beta Donates School Supplies

On Aug. 9, 2022, the Alpha Beta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society met at the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church for a dinner and work session.

Following a delicious dinner of barbecued pork, cole slaw, and baked beans provided by Pastor Dan Oldham, President Becky Johnen led the group in its business meeting.

Ways and Means Committee Chair Lois Stoner reported that a used book sale next spring is being organized. Membership Chair Jenn Harclerode brought forward two candidates for membership for the group to consider.

Linda Clapper, Projects Chair, thanked everyone who brought school supplies for Children and Youth of Bedford County. Extra supplies will be donated to local schools. Stan Howes from the Bedford County Children and Youth Advisory Board thanked the group for the donations of school supplies and blankets.

In an effort to help members know each other better, Tina Smith-Gilbert shared baby photos and little-known facts submitted by members. After the members worked in groups to name the photos, the true identities were revealed.

After adjournment, Stan Howes and the members filled backpacks with donated school supplies.

The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held Oct. 13 at Hoss's Steak and Sea House in Bedford.
