Village at Morrisons Cove

John Edward “Eddie” McCall, 85, a resident of The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, formerly of Royer, rural Williamsburg, went home to be with the Lord, late Monday, August 22, 2022, at The Village.

He was born July 25, 1937, in Williamsburg, son of the late Chalmer E. and Edna M. (McConahy) McCall. On Sept. 13, 1958, he married Lois L. Detwiler at the Eight Square Chapel, rural Williamsburg.

He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 64 years; a daughter, Linda D. Smith (Chuck) of Chesapeake, VA; a nephew, whom they helped raise, David Detwiler (Kim) of Salt Lake City, UT; a brother, Robert D. “Bob” (Arlene) McCall of rural Williamsburg; three sisters-in-laws: Mary McCall of Royer, Susie McCall of Duncansville and Anna Marie McCall of Fredericksburg; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Lois W. Robley and M. Gladys Eastep; and five brothers: Chalmer Eugene, Wayne P., Harry Elwood, Fred D. and Kenneth L. McCall.

Eddie attended school in Williamsburg and was a longtime member of Eight Square Chapel on Lower Piney Creek, where he served in various capacities.

He retired as a maintenance supervisor from The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, with over 20 years of service. Eddie also worked in his younger days, as a carpenter for both Sam Beegle and Fred Ebersole.

Eddie loved serving his Lord, spending time with his family, especially with his wife, Lois and also enjoyed woodworking.

A funeral took place Friday, Aug. 26, 2022, at Royer United Methodist Church. Pastor Brian L. McCall officiated. Private interment was held at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.

Memorial contributions in memory of Eddie may be given to the Salvation Army, 1813 6th Ave., Altoona, PA 16602.
