“The teachers have been in the classrooms preparing for the start of the new school year,” Elementary Principal Jennifer Metzler said.
Metzler talked about kindergarten orientation, which took place on Thursday, Aug. 11, and Meet the Teacher Night, which took place Thursday, Aug. 18, during her presentation with the Williamsburg Community School Board. The school district began its new school year yesterday on Wednesday, Aug. 24.
During the meeting, the professional substitute rates were approved for the following school year: substitute day-to-day, $90; nurse rate day-to-day, $125; substitute rate for more than 20 days, $100; substitute rate for one semester or more, $150; and substitute rate for one year, $27,750. The district is currently looking for a new sixth grade teacher following the resignation of Daniel Crain.
During the meeting, the administration authorized Superintendent Lisa Murgas to appoint an elementary teacher.
The following resignations were approved: Jesse Hileman as the assistant junior high football coach; Cathy Mock as the junior high cheerleading coach; and Gloria Ginter as part-time paraprofessional.
