A Martinsburg man is behind bars after an investigation into the burglary of a North Woodbury Township business led police to a storage shed full of stolen items.
According to court documents filed by Hollidaysburg State Police, on Nov. 9, 2020, police responded to a report of a burglary. The victim told troopers that someone pried open a door and entered his business and that multiple hand and power tools were missing. Troopers said the office had been ransacked with drawers dumped out and that all the computers’ wires had been cut and the hard drives removed.
Troopers said the burglary occurred while North Woodbury Township police were actively investigating a rash of burglaries in the area. North Woodbury Township police told troopers that the burglaries were similar and named David A. Snyder, 40, as a suspect.
Troopers began watching Snyder’s residence and noted the following evening another burglary occurred while Snyder was not at home. Troopers said Snyder’s vehicle was then seen parked at his residence about two hours after the reported burglary and that the car was warm to the touch.
On Nov. 12, 2020, Snyder was taken into custody by state police for a protection from abuse violation. While in custody, an inventory of Snyder’s personal belongings yielded a set of keys that police said went to a storage unit in Duncansville.
North Woodbury Township police served a search warrant on the storage unit and allegedly found multiple tools, clothing, vehicle keys, and multiple business and personal checks. Police said there were 12 checks written out to the victim’s business totaling $50,239.09, a box with the victim’s business stickers on it and an iPad mini belonging to the victim.
Snyder is facing felony charges of receiving stolen property. He was arraigned by Martinsburg Magisterial District Judge Andrew Blattenberger and committed to the Blair County Prison on $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept.1, in front of Blattenberger.
