District 5 BPW Members Meet for Boot Camp

District 5 BPW was formed to pursue the objectives of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Club by promoting Federation programs and projects. The Pennsylvania Federation is divided into 12 districts, with district 5 in six counties.

Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Fulton, Huntingdon and Somerset, form a link between the state and local clubs. District 5 locals are located in Altoona, Bedford, Cresson, Martinsburg, Tyrone, and Windber. Its strength is the local organizations that make up the heart of BPW.

Its mission is to achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education and information. Its vision is to be the leading advocate for working women. To realize these purposes, District 5 members continue to hold monthly meetings, plan interesting programs and projects, and encourage women to become involved to continue the growth of this organization for future generations.

The district conducted a summer seminar – or "boot camp" – on July 16 for district board and membership. Attendees reviewed the 2022-23 President and Treasurer Manual, presentations on mentoring and issues management, and a new district YouTube channel set up. All features generated a skilled discussion from participants with an outcome of new ideas for the coming year including a speaker's bureau committee and a spring 2023 health and wellness fair.

The district fall meeting is planned for Oct. 15, 2022, hosted by Bedford Local with location to be determined.
