Hollidaysburg State Police are investigating a trespassing incident at the former Appvion paper mill in Roaring Spring.
According to police reports, between June 15 and June 22, multiple vehicles, including cars and all-terrain vehicles, entered a locked gated area and entered the property. Police said the lock was damaged.
The Appvion property stopped paper production in March 2021, has been empty since April 2021 when the last employees finished cleanup duties at the plant.
Appvion had been a major employer in Roaring Spring for more than 150 years and nearly 300 people were put out of work when the mill closed.
There was hope, although brief, that the property would again see life as a production facility when a group of investors going by the name Roaring Spring Park LLC, purchased the mill and said their goal was to find a buyer who could potentially move in and manufacture a product.
Those hopes seemed to have been dashed after the buyers held an online auction last September and sold off most of the equipment.
State police are asking anyone with information on the trespassers to contact them at (814) 696-6100.
