Race Coming to the Cove

The ‘Tour de ‘Toona bicycle road race was coming to the Cove, and Chris Benson of East Freedom was racing in the event for the third time. Martinsburg native Mike Miller was also racing in the event.

Doris Benner of Roaring Spring received the “Living Treasure” award during the Spring Dam festivities in Roaring Spring. The award recognized citizens ages 70 and up whose lives and spirits were a quiet inspiration to their neighbors and to their community.

Would-be gasoline thieves were stopped in the act when neighbors stepped in. Two individuals cut the lock on a fuel tank at a bus garage at Waterside owned by Greg Carbaugh but drove off when a neighbor noticed suspicious activity and approached. Another neighbor called the police.

Debbie Clark and David Marko were hired for teaching positions in the Claysburg-Kimmel School District.
