Police Start Patrolling on Bikes

The Martinsburg Police Department started patrolling on bicycles. The bicycle program was seen as an effective public relations tool, and as a quieter and more maneuverable form of transportation for police activity.

The new Williamsburg Senior Center opened in the former Isenberg Cleaners building. Over 50 adults could be accommodated for meals.

Shirley’s Something Special bakeshop and catering service closed after 20 years in business. Shirley Kensinger ran the business from her home in Cabbage Creek, which was up for sale.

Sheetz donated three used computers to the Martinsburg Community Library. Two computers were used for public access and one was used in the library office.

Roaring Spring borough was purchasing a sound system for use at the Spring Dam Park amphitheater during Spring Dam Weekend. It would also be used for other activities during the year.
