Putting cows on the front page since 1885.
Love is in the air in Claysburg. Claysburg Area Community Theater will present its spring production "Sandy Toes and Salty Kisses" by Michael and Susan Parker. The play follows the goings-on of The Lovers' Landing Beach Hotel, a popular wedding destination that has been recently inherited by Audrina Brown. She quickly discovers that her Uncle Bubba, who has worked for the hotel his entire life is running a variety of (illegal) "extra curricular enterprises" within the hotel.
Arriving at the hotel are Beatrice Rutherford-Smythe, her daughter Traci and her fiancé Peter to meet with Madame Coco, the wedding planner. Add flaky receptionist Candy, mistaken identities, a roller coaster of events that lead to an on-again-off-again wedding and a mysterious guest Douglas Dupont, and you having the makings of a hilarious farce.
The show is on June 17 and 18 at 7 p.m. at The Claysburg Kimmel High School auditorium.
Director of the show Maria Leppert said that people should expect a good laugh.
"They should expect a good chuckle, which a lot of people are still needing," Leppert said. "It is a good evening for some belly laughs. From being cooped up and not being around people, it means a lot to the cast. This is a fun time for them, not just for the audience. It is just a nice evening of forgetting the outside."
Dana Ebersole, who portrays Beatrice Rutherford-Smythe, agrees. "It is something to do to get back together," Ebersole said. "A lot of people in the community appreciate what we do."
