Congressman Makes Appearance

Ex-congressman W. S. Linton of Saginaw Michigan was making an appearance at the Eleventh Avenue Opera House in Altoona. Every effort was being made to make it one of the grandest patriotic meetings ever held in Central Pennsylvania. Harry C. Sawyer of Pittsburgh, state president of the American Protective Association, was coordinating the event. (modern day note: the American Protective Association was an anti-Catholic, anti-Immigrant secret society popular in the post-Civil War era).
