Salvation Arm Presents Awards

The Salvation Army presented 25-year service awards to D. Emmert Brumbaugh of Claysburg and Kenton R. Miller of Martinsburg. In addition to their service in their local units, they were both working on the fund drive to raise money for a new Salvation Army disaster Canteen for Blair, Bedord and Huntingdon Counties.

Mrs. Iva M. Johnston of Claysburg was appointed company nurse at Appleton Papers in Roaring Spring. Prior to joining Appleton she was a part-time industrial nurse for General Refractories of Claysburg and Sproul.

Miss Katie Ruth Parks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Parks of Williamsburg, was sworn in as a member of the United States Air Force in a special service that followed a prayer meeting at the Williamsburg Church of God. She was a graduate of Cooper Hospital School of Nursing and was assigned to Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota.
