Central Graduates

Herald of June 5, 1997

Jason Link was valedictorian and Aaron Mowers was salutatorian of the Central High School Class of 1997.

The Keystone Foundry Museum opened in Hopewell. The newly opened building housed the carpentry, pattern and mine car assembly shops. The main foundry building was opened the previous year.

Two Spring Cove teachers will be retiring at the end of the school year. Miss Carole Baker was retiring from Roaring Spring Elementary and Linda K. Smith was retiring from Martinsburg Elementary.

At Central High School, teachers Gary Donaldson, Janie Groff and Alfred Dangel retired.

The Northern Bedford Baseball Team ended the season with a record of 19-2. The team lost to Bedford at the District 5 finals in an upset.

The vocal students of Sue Wagner held a recital at the Woodbury Church of the Brethren. They were accompanied by Marian Grassmyer on piano.
