Putting cows on the front page since 1885.
Members of the Blair County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees (PASR) recently collected food, useful items and monetary contributions from their members for the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society. The group contributes to a different organization at each month's meeting, including various food banks, the Mountain Lion Backpack program, the Altoona Teen Center, the Rescue Mission, the Red Cross, the Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home, as well as to other philanthropic groups.
One of the most active chapters in the state, the Blair County Chapter is always looking for new ways to serve school retirees and the community.
Retired school persons now members of the Homewood community in Martinsburg will be treated to a luncheon in their honor this month by the Blair County Chapter.
Summer meetings in June, July, August, and September will be held at Altoona's Highland Park at 11 a.m., the first Tuesday of each month. Anyone who has worked in a public school is invited to join. Please call Pat Waring to save your spot for lunch at (814) 946-9911.
