Alpha Beta Chapter Of Delta Kappa Gamma Society Meets

On Saturday March 26, 2022, the Alpha Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, International, met at the Live Well Chiropractic Meeting Room in Fishertown. The meeting was called to order by President Becky Johnen, who reflected on the value of encouragement.

In January, several members participated in a STEM workshop with the Roaring Spring Girl Scout Troop.

At the meeting members had the opportunity to donate funds individually to the Jubilani School in Africa; $500 was collected. Items were also collected for backpack programs at local schools.

Several blankets were distributed by the Project Committee for members to complete at home for the ongoing blanket project. As part of the Anniversary Caring Project in honor of the 100th anniversary of Delta Kappa Gamma in 2029, Alpha Beta has pledged to donate at least 100 blankets to local agencies.

Lois Stoner, World Fellowship Coordinator, reported that one of the scholarship recipients is a Ukrainian living in Arizona, and Stoner encouraged members to send her cards and messages. Delta Kappa Gamma is an international society of key women educators dedicated to supporting women educators from around the world through fellowships.

Dr. Chris Arnold, owner of Live Well Chiropractic, greeted the group and offered his support for Alpha Beta's many acts of community service.

Kristen Hall, Ceremonies Chair, led a necrology service in memory of Wanda Keller, who passed away recently. Keller will be greatly missed locally and on the state level, where she served as treasurer.

Following the meeting, the members designed and completed a cash pizza gift for the state convention before they made individual cash pizzas for themselves.

The next meeting is scheduled for May 10, 2022, at the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church in Fishertown.
