The Former Benson School building was for sale again due to unpaid taxes. The current owner bought the property from the Spring Cove School District to open a business, but the Martinsburg Zoning Board denied the request. A housing development firm was interested in the property for the construction of senior housing complexes, but could not secure the funding.

Forty-nine students from four area schools competed in the Central High School Speech Festival. Students from Central, Williamsburg, Southern Huntingdon, and Juniata Valley participated.
