'Public Health is Where You Are'

National Public Health Week is celebrated April 4-10 this year. National Public Health Week is always the first full week in April.

According to nphw.org, this year's theme is "Public Health is Where You Are." The website says, "Where we live impacts our communities' health. And we can make our communities healthier, stronger and safer."

According to the website, National Public Health Week is honored "as a time to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight issues that are important to improving our nation's health."

This year, the daily themes of National Public Health Week are as follows: Racism: A Public Health Crisis (Monday); Public Health Workforce: Essential to our Future (Tuesday); Community: Collaboration and Resilience (Wednesday); World Health Day: Health is a Human Right (Thursday); Accessibility: Closing the Health Equity Gap (Friday); Climate Change: Taking Action for Equity (Saturday); and Mental Wellness: Redefining the Meaning of Health (Sunday).

National Public Health Week is led by the American Public Health Association (APHA. The association recently celebrated its 150th anniversary.

According to its website, "APHA champions the health of all people and all communities. We strengthen the public health profession. We speak out for public health issues and policies backed by science."
