Daylight Savings Passes

Herald of April 10, 1947

The Roaring Spring Borough Council decided to follow Altoona and Hollidaysburg and adopt Daylight Savings Time. Williamsburg Borough Council discussed the question, favoring fast time, especially if other communities adopt it. Martinsburg Borough Council did not discuss the issue. Fast time was to start the last Sunday in April and end the last Sunday in September.

The Blair County Historical Society was planning a meeting to discuss plans for the restoration of the old Dick Schoolhouse. Local historian Ella Snowberger, president of the Historical Society, was planning to lead the meeting.

Harry Suter of New Enterprise was elected president of the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association of the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Suter resigned his position as the first vocational supervisor of Replogle High School to enter Penn’s veterinary school. He expected to graduate in February of 1948.
