Members of the Claysburg community are presenting the 19th edition of Claysburg's annual Hee Haw show to benefit the Rotary Club. The program will take place Friday, April 8, and Saturday, April 9, at 7 p.m.
Director Dan Crist said that the show is a take on the old Hee Haw show from television.
"We adapt some of the skits like the Schoolhouse scene," said Crist. "On TV, they would use one little quick thing. We make a little scene out of it with the kids and Miss Pearl, always getting the brunt of the jokes pulled on her. We do other scenes that people who are familiar with the TV show would recognize."
Crist said that what is different is that they have a community chorus that sits on the stage and sings about six songs. They also have special acts as they did on the show, but according to Crist, there's more than one.
"We have six special acts during our program. They aren't the same for both nights. So, if you come Friday night, you're not seeing the same exact show Saturday."
The special acts for the Friday program are Wills Mountain Cloggers, Stacey Cowher, BB&J, Gayle's Shining Stars and Cindy and Clayton John. On Saturday, the special acts include The Caldwells, The Horseshoe Cloggers and Evan Potter and Jocelyn Claycomb.
Crist said that he hopes that the show is well attended. He thinks it is like coming out of hibernation, even though the group doesn't have all of the singers they usually have.
"This program that we are using this year was something that we had ready two years ago when we were shut down," said Crist. "I think that everybody could use a good laugh."
Crist added that the idea of putting on a show during these times would be good.
"Hopefully, we will have people who aren't afraid to come out and watch. I think that it would be good for the community," said Crist.
Tickets are available at the Claysburg Library, Peggy's Diner, the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and at the door.
