Betty J. Houp, 92, of Altoona, formerly of Woodbury, passed away March 12, 2022, at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was born May 21, 1929, in Hyndman; daughter of the late Joseph and Ellen M. (Moore) Imler. Betty was united in marriage to Donald E. Houp Feb. 25, 1950, in Woodbury. They recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley J. Hall of Frederick, Md .; son, Joseph R. Houp (Janan) of Hopewell; daughter, Peggy L. Teeter (Clair) of New Enterprise; as well as nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her siblings and a son-in-law, Dennis.
Betty worked as a clerk at Mahoney’s and Ebersole’s stores. She also worked at the Martinsburg Sewing Factory. Betty was a member of the Woodbury Church of the Brethren and enjoyed knitting, quilt making, and making dishcloths.
A funeral was held Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Stone Funeral Home, Woodbury (www.stonefuneralhomewoodbury.com). Pastor David Ulm and Rev. Larry Graybill officiated. Interment was made in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
