Altoona Community Theatre (ACT), a community-based theater company with a rich 73-year history is seeking directors for the first three shows of its 2022-23 season.
The shows to be presented are “She Loves Me,” “The Holiday Channel Christmas Movie Wonderthon,” and “Our Town.”
Interested directors need not have worked at ACT before, but previous directing experience is preferred. Those interested should submit a letter of interest and resume by email to ACT’s Artistic Committee at [email protected] by April 15, 2022. Qualified applicants will be interviewed and given time to present their artistic vision for their show(s) of interest.
She Loves Me, September 2022: An intimate and touching show with a soaring score and considered by many to be the most charming musical ever written, She Loves Me is a warm romantic comedy with an endearing innocence and old-world elegance.
The Holiday Channel Christmas Movie Wonderthon, November 2022: Christmas: a time for magic. A time for the traditions we cherish. A time to watch as many original TV movies as a human being can possibly endure. But now with The Holiday Channel Christmas Movie Wonderthon, enjoy the sugar rush of six Christmas movies all at once.
Our Town, February 2023: Thornton Wilder’s story of the fictional small town of Grover’s Corners and its citizens. Spanning the years between 1901 and 1913, Our Town is narrated by a stage manager in three acts: “Daily Life,” “Love and Marriage” and “Death and Eternity.”
The Spring 2023 Musical will be announced at a later date, and director applications for the show will be accepted at that time.
Director applicants may obtain a sample copy of a script in the ACT Administrative Office Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For questions, please call the office at (814) 943-4357.
