Citing projected business growth, Curry Supply, a manufacturer of specialized truck equipment, has moved its main manufacturing facility from Curryville to the DeGol Industrial Center in Hollidaysburg. Additionally, some administration personnel from sales, marketing, finance, information technology, and human resources have moved to a corporate office facility in Altoona where it will share space with sister companies Curry Rail Service and Curry Fluid Power.
According to a company release, Jason Ritchey, president and owner of Curry Supply said 2021 surpassed company sales expectations and exceeded the capacity of its Martinsburg facility. “We will always appreciate the company’s decades-long history at the facility in Martinsburg, but our new homes in Hollidaysburg and Altoona better correspond to our vision for the future,” Ritchey said.
Ritchey said Curry Supply’s projected business growth was the driving force behind the relocation of the manufacturing facility and business offices. Ritchey said the new facilities are better equipped to serve the growing needs of the company and its clients.
According to the company’s website, Curry Supply was started in Martinsburg as a general store in 1932 by Lyonel Ritchey, selling supplies to the local farming community. It expanded to a feed mill and grain storage facility in 1955.
In 1965, Curry Supply began selling trucks and in 1972, the company began selling used industrial equipment, including bulldozers, backhoe loaders, log skidders, truck tractors and service vehicles.
Bob, Cary, and Joe Ritchey took over the business following the death of Lyonel Ritchey in 1984.
In 1988, Curry Supply began its manufacturing business, further expanding in 1995 with a dedicated assembly shop in Martinsburg.
Marking another chapter in the company’s growth, Jeff Shaw, vice president of sales and marketing said the move to Hollidaysburg is another step forward.
“This exciting development marks an important milestone for Curry Supply,” he said. “Consistent growth is and has been our key goal. We’re moving ahead and growing our client base, our business, and our ambitions.”
