Church Renting to the State

Local Methodist ministers were said to be incensed that the Grace Methodist Church in Harrisburg was renting their house of worship to the State of Pennsylvania as a meeting place for the Legislature. The prevailing sentiment was that “no church after dedication should be converted to any use except the worship of Almighty God”.
Honorable A. S. Morrow, 74, died at his residence in Hollidaysburg. Death was brought on by paralysis, aided by the recent business difficulties associated with the closing of Gardner, Morrow & Co.
Roaring Spring residents were suffering from widespread grippe, with severe cases of acute pneumonia, bad colds, and measles around as well.
Blair County paid out $169 for the scalps of 137 foxes and 30 minks. Ninety-eight affidavits were taken to establish the correctness of the claims. The numbers were slightly lower than neighboring counties.
