Authority Redoes Insurance

Williamsburg Municipal Authority Secretary David Myers told members during the Feb. 1 meeting that the authority re-did the insurance and saved an estimated $2-3,000 per year. Myers explained that the authority switched carriers.

Myers also brought up that the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services had sent out information regarding a low-income water assistance program, which can pay for water and sewer. Although this was discussed at previous meetings, no further discussion had been held. One customer has since applied for the benefit.

Authority member Daryl Cole said, “I recommend we do this.”

Myers agreed, adding, “We owe it to our community.”

Myers said this would require some office work to get the program up and running to apply for the program.

Increases to sewer and water bills, the Authority announced, would be seen on this month’s billing statements.
