Growers Welcome the Cold

The lowest temperature of the winter so far was two degrees below zero, recorded at the United States Government weather recording station at the Blair County Airport. The Blue Mountain Cannery reported a low temperature of minus one. The cold weather was welcomed by local fruit growers, who feared that the earlier spring-like weather would cause their fruit trees to bud.

A reward was offered for information leading to the conviction of the person who damaged three buses belonging to the company that provided transportation for employees of the PRR who lived in the Cove....
