M-burg Fire Starts Fund-raiser

The Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Company kicked off a fund-raising campaign to purchase a 1997 Freightliner truck. The company wanted to replace the 1975 tanker which was equipped with a 1960 milk tank.
A state police trooper reported seeing a large fireball in the Brumbaugh Mountain area on Jan. 31. Volunteers from Imler and New Enterprise fire companies searched the area thinking it might have been a downed plane, but none was discovered. Police suspect it might have been a meteorite.
The old Imler firehall was heavily damaged by fire. A fire company member was working nearby and was able to get the vehicles, including two ambulances, out before the building was consumed by the flames.
Mary Eckhard, a resident of the Morrisons Cove Home, celebrated her 100th birthday.
The Williamsburg Public Library was offering a class on American Sign Language to be taught by Beth Sollenberger of Williamsburg RD2.
