The initial meeting of the Hollidaysburg Borough Council for 2022 was held in council chambers on Monday, Jan. 3, at the Hollidaysburg Municipal Building.
Mayor Joe Dodson began the meeting by swearing in new councilmembers Brady Leahey and Jeff Ketner. Other new members Sean Burke and Walter Kalista II were not present.
Joseph Pompa was reelected by the council as president and Brady Leahey was voted in as vice president.
The council appointed First National Bank as their depository, Evey Black Attorneys LLC was named as the solicitor for the borough for 2022. The council unanimously appointed Stiffler McGraw Associates as the consulting engineer for the borough for 2022 and Young, Oakes, and Brown as the borough auditor for 2022.
Borough Manager Jim Gehret announced an audit will come in March but stated the borough had a productive year in 2021.
The community relations & events director and fire marshal were not present at the meeting and filed no report.
Mayor Joe Dodson gave kudos to the Hollidaysburg Police Department for an exemplary performance, given that the department is operating short handed.
The council unanimously approved Resolution No. 2022-6, which authorized payment of expenses totaling $40,835.
In the new business of discussing borough sidewalks, requested by Councilmember Brady Leahey, the council decided to table the topic until next month.
To approve Resolution 2022-7, which is an amendment to the Hollidaysburg Borough Authority’s Articles of Incorporation increasing its term of existence, a quorum of borough council members need to meet following the Hollidaysburg Borough Authority’s January meeting.
There were no speakers during the public hearing portion of the meeting.
