Frederick's Meat Market is finally opened – or, reopened.
The grand opening took place on Friday, Jan. 21. Customers could see the new spacious store, sample food from vendors and participate in giveaways.
The 50-by-60-foot building holds seven freezers and an 8-door cooler. There is a 32-foot counter full of deli meat, and 8 feet of produce.
The new location – built directly beside the old building – also offers a variety of dry goods.
"We wanted to showcase local products," said owner Mitch Frederick.
Olive oil, honey, salad dressings, dips, ice cream and milk are some products that come from local vendors.
The new location will also have a stack of Heralds to sell weekly.
The new space required new employees. Frederick has hired five new people so far.
Construction on the new building began in June. Though Frederick wanted the building to be finished by the holidays, the ongoing backorder issues from COVID caused delays. The last thing to come in was the sign on the side of the building (shown in photo).
"Everything we bought, we used," said Frederick.
He noted that he chose energy-efficient equipment to keep costs down.
Frederick applauded Dave Cunningham of Pride Builders for the construction of the building; Image Signs Inc. for the sign; Tom Snowberger for the concrete; and Hostetler Refrigeration.
The old building will be used for processing and packaging.
Frederick began the business 27 years ago with his father and currently runs it with his son.
