Pennsylvania Farm Link: Landowners and Aspiring Farmers Wanted

Are you a farm/land owner looking to sell or lease your land for agricultural production?

Are you an aspiring farmer or farming but need to expand your operation?

If you answered yes to one of these questions, PA Farm Link has a special you may want to consider taking advantage of. The “2022 Kick-Off Promotion” offers farm owners and aspiring farmers a one-time complimentary listing, a $100 value, into the PA Farm Link online database.

Pennsylvania Farm Link (PFL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to “linking farmers to the future.” Staff maintain an online database of Landowners and Entering Farmers. Landowners are those farm owners looking to lease or sell their land for ag production – they are looking for the next generation. Entering Farmers are those looking to farm or expand their operation and want to lease or buy farm land. The PA Farm Link online database is searchable 24/7 and is easily accessible on the PFL website.

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) 2017 Ag Census, 7.2 million acres in Pennsylvania is devoted to agriculture use, down from 7.7 million acres in 2012. Much of this land, 41 percent in 2012, was owned by farmers age 55 and older. If agriculture is to remain Pennsylvania’s largest industry, it’s imperative for these acres to transition to the next generation of farmers.

Listing # 20145

Young married couple looking to start a family farm focused on pasture raised animals and produce. Ten years livestock, produce and row crop experience. Currently have two bred heifers and am looking to grow the herd. Currently in the last year of enlistment in the military and am looking to move back to Pennsylvania with my wife to begin a family farm.  My wife, who also has farm experience, is in her second year of veterinary school. Transitioning from the military into a family farm would fulfill our dream of raising our future children with the values and maturity that can only be found on a farm. We are looking to market sustainably raised livestock and create a family farm for our future children. We are looking to buy land preferably with a house, between 80-200 acres. We would like to find land in either the Williamsport, Scranton region or near Altoona/State College.
