After 20 years of service at Taylor Township, Barb Greenleaf is heading into retirement.
Greenleaf became the secretary/treasurer at Taylor Township on April 29, 2002. Before that, she had worked at North Woodbury Township in the same capacity from 1996 to 2002.
“This is not a regular office job,” said Greenleaf. “I do everything here, and now Michele will do everything here.”
Michele Dick will be replacing Greenleaf as the secretary/treasurer.
“I think she’s going to do a great job,” said Greenleaf. “She fits in very well with other employees and will fit in with the public. I don’t think they could have picked anyone better.”
Though Greenleaf is excited to retire, she says she will miss the people.
“I’ll miss the people I work with and the residents that come into the office,” Greenleaf said. “I’ll miss the camaraderie.”
Greenleaf hopes to spend her retirement with family and wants to “take some time to be a grandma.”
Greenleaf has two children and three grandchildren. Two of her grandchildren live in Murrysville, so Greenleaf plans to make more trips there once her retirement starts. She has already started babysitting her grandchild who lives in Duncansville, which she considers the “beginning of retirement.”
Greenleaf will also return to scrapbooking, which she hasn’t done since 2015.
“I’ve been collecting things to scrapbook over the years,” said Greenleaf.
Right along with this, Greenleaf is hoping to clean out her house.
“You know, I have kept every piece of paper my two children have brought home from school,” said Greenleaf.
She looks forward to cleaning out the house and having a yard sale in the spring or summer.
To start, Greenleaf will still be on call to help Dick when needed.
“There are so many parts to the job, like state reports,” said Greenleaf.
Greenleaf’s last day at Taylor Township will be Jan. 31.
“It’s just been such a blessing to work with the public and create these friendships,” said Greenleaf.
