Two Jailed, Third Being Sought After RS Police Find Drugs in Vehicle

Two people are behind bars and a third is being sought after an alert police officer followed a vehicle into a restricted area of Roaring Spring where he discovered drugs and drug paraphernalia.

According to Roaring Spring police, on Dec. 30 at approximately 10 p.m., an officer spotted a vehicle turn onto Papermill Road, which is blocked off with a mound of gravel to prevent access to the former Appvion paper mill.

According to police, the officer recognized the driver as Isaac W. Detwiler, 43, of Roaring Spring, and the passenger as Amanda R. Wilson, 39, of Martinsburg. Police said Detwiler was known to have a suspended driver’s license and an active warrant.

Police followed the vehicle to a dead end and spotted a third individual, a male, who they say arrived on foot, standing next to the vehicle. Police said the male initially failed to acknowledge police commands and was placed in detention.

Police said while they were detaining the male, they observed Detwiler and Wilson switch places inside the vehicle, with Wilson moving to the driver’s side and Detwiler moving to the passenger seat.

Police pulled Detwiler from the passenger seat and placed him in custody and ordered Wilson out the vehicle. Police said Wilson stood between the vehicle and officers in an attempt to prevent them from having access to the vehicle.

Police said Detwiler gave them permission to retrieve the registration from the glove box and when police saw a black container and purse on the floor, Wilson claimed it was hers. Police said Wilson tried to interfere and made it “obvious” that she did not want officers in the vehicle. Police said that Wilson placed her arm over the middle console when an officer opened the glove compartment.

When police searched Detwiler, he allegedly had two baggies, one containing 3.07 grams of methamphetamine and the other containing 7.35 grams and $107 in cash.

After a search warrant was obtained for Detwiler’s vehicle, police said they found drug paraphernalia, marijuana and approximately 75.82 grams of methamphetamine.

Police said the total weight of methamphetamine seized from both Detwiler’s person and vehicle amounted to 86.24 grams.

Detwiler and Wilson were charged with felony counts of possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and conspiracy as well as misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Detwiler was arraigned by Martinsburg Magisterial District Judge Andrew Blattenberger and committed to the Blair County Prison in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.

Wilson was arraigned by Altoona Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Jones and ordered to the Blair County Prison with bail set at $50,000 cash.

A preliminary hearing for both Detwiler and Wilson is scheduled for Jan. 20 in front of Blattenberger.

An arrest warrant has been issued for the third suspect.
