Southern Cove Power Reunion Light Show Huge Success

Southern Cove Power Reunion board members met at 6 p.m. on Jan. 6, 2022.

The treasurer report was read by Amy Mellott.

The light show was a tremendous hit. Admissions, donations and horse/wagon rides totaled $4,044. Expenses for advertising, extension cords, cookies and hot chocolate were deducted, which left a profit of $1,948. Many individuals and businesses are going to participate next year. The dates will be Dec. 9 and 10 and Dec. 16 and 17, tentatively. Those who have Christmas items they would like to get rid of may donate to this organization.

In old business, orders for ham and cheese sandwiches were taken and they will be made on Jan. 13 and distributed. Over 900 orders were taken. Other winter fundraisers may be coming in the next few months.

Rental fees for the pavilion have increased due to renovations such as cementing the pavilion. In just a few months, activities will begin at the show grounds once again. Now is the time to order banners for the track for your business.

In new business, a John Deere B tractor was purchased for the raffle this year. The theme will be John Deere.

John Pensyl has resigned after 18 years in the club’s kitchen. The members appreciate all he and his workers did through the years to help. Pensyl and his crew have made the club a lot of money. There will be two new co-chairs, Barb Koontz and Lisa Wiles. Members can sign up for shifts to work.

The tentative date for the spring banquet will be May 21 and will be held at the show grounds. This will also be the first tractor pull.
