Reform Called for Milk Law

Pa. Gov. Milton Shapp’s administration was calling for the reform of the Milk Marketing law to take away the power of the Milk Marketing Board to fix retail prices. The details were outlined in a letter that was mailed to local dairy farmers. Local farmers believed it would hurt the price of milk and put smaller dairies out of business while consumers believed it would lead to more competition and lower prices.
