Homewood at Martinsburg

Edythe Marie Myers, 87, a resident of Homewood at Martinsburg formerly of rural Roaring Spring, passed away Monday evening, Dec. 27, 2021, at the home.

She was born April 22, 1934, in Ore Hill, daughter of the late Emma C. (Malone) Walter. On March 17, 1990, she married Harry Elmer “Deets” Myers Jr. at Diehl’s Crossroads Church, and he preceded her in death July 3, 2002.

She is survived by two daughters: Colleen A. Marsella (Justin) of Pleasantville and Cheryl E. Weir of Altoona; six grandchildren: Kelly C. Baker, Angela M. Peterson, Christine D. Weir, James B. Weir, Jason R. Weir, and Dylan C. Onufrak; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathern M. Onufrak; and a brother, Ralph Hanks.

Edythe attended Roaring Spring High School and was a longtime member of Diehl’s Crossroads Church of the Brethren, rural Martinsburg.

Over the years, she worked as a bookkeeper/secretary for the Morrisons Cove Herald, Shriver’s Greenhouse, News Print Company (Blair Press), Richard Nicodemus Construction and Forshey’s Inc., Martinsburg, from where she retired.

Edythe loved spending time with her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren and had also enjoyed bowling.

A funeral took place Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg (www.bolgerfuneralhome.com). Pastor Michael Benner officiated.

Private interment was held at Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring.
