A Claysburg man is facing felony burglary charges after police said he entered an apartment without permission and damaged several walls.
According to charges filed by Greenfield Township police, on Dec. 19, the resident of the apartment reported that Warren C. Dutil, 29, entered her apartment at around 3 a.m. while she was at work and put several holes in the walls throughout the apartment.
The victim told police that she and Dutil had an argument the previous day while she was at work and that he appeared intoxicated while at a bar earlier in the evening.
The victim told police that when she came home from work, she noticed several holes in the walls. Police said they counted a total of 24 holes in the walls and two doors broken from the frames.
Police questioned a neighbor who told them that around 3:30 a.m., he heard banging on the walls and that it felt like his whole apartment was shaking and that a smoke detector was knocked from a wall. The neighbor told police he had seen Dutil leave the victim’s apartment a short time later.
The victim said neighbors had seen a male who fit Dutil’s description get picked up from the apartment by a dark colored vehicle. The victim told police that one of her friends had a vehicle matching that description and when police contacted her, she allegedly confirmed picking Dutil up from the apartment at approximately 3:30 a.m.
Dutil is facing felony counts of burglary and criminal trespass as well as a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.
He was arraigned by Hollidaysburg Magisterial District Judge Paula Aigner and released on $50,000 unsecured bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for today, Jan. 6, in front of Martinsburg Magisterial District Judge Andrew Blattenberger.
