Ronald K. Ayers

Ronald K. Ayers, 88, of Martinsburg, passed away early Thursday morning December 16, 2021, at The Village at Morrison’s Cove, Martinsburg.

He was born March 13, 1933, in Henrietta, son of the late David E. and Thelma (Beach) Ayers.

On Feb. 3, 1954, he married Shirley M. Metzker at Diehl’s Crossroads Brethren Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years; three daughters, Diane Kensinger of Florida, Deb Balkavich of Bellwood, and Lori (Wayne) Manges of Florida; a grandson, Douglas (Brenda) Kensinger of Ohio; two great grandchildren: Alexander and Vincent Kensinger; and a sister Arlene Long of Chambersburg.

Ronald was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a supervisor at Martinsburg Milling Company, and was a member of Henrietta Church of God.

Ronald was a talented carpenter and enjoyed building wood cabinetry and remodeling houses.

He also enjoyed reading and collecting old milk bottles. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

To honor Ronald’s wishes, there will be no public viewing, visitation or funeral service.

The family suggests that contributions in his memory be made to Henrietta Church of God.

Arrangements are by Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. (russinfuneralhome.com)
