Cove Lions Club of Loysburg Assists Family In Community

Charlie Clapper of New Enterprise passed away tragically on Aug. 22, 2018. He left behind a handicapped daughter, Beth, and a disabled wife, Robin.

The Clappers struggled with hardships through out their lives. Beth was a small child when she was hurt on the family farm. She was left with paralysis and was severely handicapped forced to use a wheelchair.

Robin worked hard all her life until health issues left her also disabled and struggling to provide for her family. Their home is not handicap and needed many repairs. Habitat for Humanity was contacted as an avenue for assistance. Fundraising and local donations were collected.

The Cove community rallied together and raised $21,889.42 for this family. This family found another house that was somewhat better but also needs repairs. This money will be presented to Robin and Mr. Keith Clapper.

The Cove Lion Club would like to thank the Cove community for graciously giving and assisting this family in need. This group could not have been happier to see such outpouring. The goal of the Cove Lions Club is always to serve. But, without the help and support of the community and the Cove, they could not do all that they do.

Friday, Dec. 10, the Cove Lions held their second pizza sale of the year. These sales will continue the second Sunday of each month. There is also a brunch held the first Sunday of the month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Money raised will go back into the community.

On Saturday, Dec. 11, a Breakfast with Santa was held with over fifty children in attendance from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Pancakes and bacon were served. The committee had games for the children and had letters to Santa. Santa allowed parents to take pictures with their children.
