Esther Ellen (Isenberg) Kauffman

Esther Ellen (Isenberg) Kauffman, 95, of Harrisburg, passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021, at her residence.

She was born March 11, 1926 in Martinsburg, as the daughter of the late Emerson Irvin Isenberg and Reba (Frye) Isenberg.

She is survived by her two loving daughters, Nancy J. Kauffman of Susquehanna Township and Margaret E. Motter and her husband, Robert, “Bob”, of Lower Paxton Township; sister, Reba Pauline Rhodes of Roaring Spring; two grandchildren: Ryan Motter and his wife, Diane of Chesapeake City, Md. and Colleen Sprenkle and her husband, Joel of Selinsgrove; three great-grandchildren: Evan Motter, Brady Patchell and Aaliyah Sprenkle and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Richard E. Kauffman, who passed Sept. 12, 2019; brother, Robert S. Isenberg and two sisters, Margaret Isenberg and Miriam L. Showalter.

Esther graduated in the Class of 1944 from Martinsburg High School.

She was a member of Penbrook Church of God and was active in her Sunday School class, the women’s ministry and the egg ministry.

In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was an outstanding homemaker, seamstress and mother to her two daughters. She also enjoyed playing the piano in her younger years.

A funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Penbrook Church of God, 2733 Canby Street, Harrisburg, PA 17103. Pastor Mark S. Halliday will be officiating.

A public viewing will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. A procession to Old Shoops Cemetery will take place following the service.
