Suspect Identified in Shooting

A graduate of Central High School was identified as a suspect in the shooting death of a state policeman in Lewistown on Dec. 9. Charles Howard Knisely, 20, of Altoona, formerly of McKee was the subject of a nationwide search along with Mark. R. Geddes, 22, of Altoona. Martinsburg Police Chief Ivan Hoover and patrolman Sheldon Hoover were searching vacant buildings in the Martinsburg area. State Police were also assisting in the search.
Two area singing groups were slated to be Channel 10 on Christmas Day as part of a five hour telecast of Christmas music. The Central High School Chorus made a tape that was scheduled to air around noon on WFBG-TV. The Room 102 folk singing and instrumental group from Claysburg-Kimmel was also set to appear.
Pvt. Larry Mock of Williamsburg and Pvt. Daniel Guyer of Woodbury completed eight weeks of advanced individual training at the Army Armor Center at Ft. Knox, Ky.
