Home for the Holidays at Homewood

On the evening of Dec. 3, the residents of Homewood at Martinsburg and their guests were treated to a Christmas concert by the Altoona Symphony Orchestra called Home for the Holidays. The live presentation was held in the Givler Cultural Center on the Homewood at Martinsburg campus and broadcast throughout the facility via Homewood’s in house closed circuit video system.

The program was sponsored by Allan and Judy Hancock. Mr. Hancock, a board member of Homewood at Martinsburg, kicked off the program by welcoming everyone in the audience. He gave special mention to a number of guests who were attending from the Homewood at Everett campus, Spring House Estates. He also said that many residents of Homewood at Martinsburg were hosting get-togethers in their rooms with friends while watching the concert on their televisions.

Mr. Hancock introduced the Homewood board members in the audience and welcomed guests from the board of the Altoona Symphony. The symphony was under the direction of Artistic Advisor/Principal Guest Conductor Nick Palmer.

The hour-long program included holiday classics like Silent Night and a selection from the Nutcracker, and ended with a Christmas Sing-Along of familiar carols.

Earlier in the day, Homewood hosted a luncheon with Maestro Palmer. ASO Concertmaster Genora Medina and Assistant Concertmaster Lela Tsinadze gave a special performance at the luncheon for the guests.
