Northern Bedford Black Panthers Fall After Impressive Season

Northern Bedford's run in the PIAA high school football tournament came to an end on a snow-covered field at Clarion University last Friday. After taking a 14-7 lead into halftime, the Panthers were unable to contain Redbank Valley in the second half and the Bulldogs came from behind to notch a 21-14 victory.

Panther Sophomore Adam Johnson led the team on the ground with 33 carries for 115 yards. Sophomore QB Eion Snider went 4-for-8 in the air for 89 yards. Snider also rushed for Northern's two scores. Freshman Aaron Bowers pulled in one reception for 35 yards, Senior Brooks Snider hauled in two catches, and Senior Hunter Walter caught one pass. Walter also keyed the defense with 5 tackles.

Over the Panthers' 13 games, Snider completed 86 passes over 153 attempts, resulting in 1,148 yards and 14 touchdowns. Johnson led all running backs with 807 yards and 7 touchdowns, averaging 5.0 yards per carry. Bowers was top receiver with 29 catches for 503 yards and 7 TDs. Senior Kainen Brown finished with 67 tackles.

The quarterfinals loss wraps the Panthers 2021 season at 9 wins and 4 defeats.
