Christmas Fun Coming Up at the Herald

After the turkey is eaten and we all say what we're thankful for, Christmas season starts. The Saturday after Thanksgiving is always my family's first day for Christmas cookie baking, and I already feel the holiday spirit.

This will be my first year participating in the Herald's Christmas traditions. We decided to spruce (pun intended) up our Christmas decorations this year by buying a new tree and new wrapping paper for our presents.

But beyond the decorations and Christmas music that will be playing in the office this season, we're getting ready for my first Christmas edition of the Herald. I'm looking forward to the many creative parts of our Dec. 23 edition, and I hope we get a lot of submissions.

Jingles

Every year, the Herald features Jingles – art and poems from Cove-area students. We have already reached out to our four elementary schools to let the fourth grade teachers know that we would love to see the poems written by their students. We have also begun to reach out to Mennonite schools in hopes of receiving some Christmas drawings.

Coloring Contest

Find the rules for our annual coloring contest on Page B-1. We will have two first-place winners and two second-place winners in two age categories: 5-7 and 8-11.

Recipes

Calling all bakers! Like I said, one of my favorite Christmas traditions is cookie baking. Give readers some ideas for baking or cooking this holiday season by sending in your favorite recipes. Whether it's your favorite cookie or your favorite side dish, we want to see it. Recipes can be sent to [email protected] by Dec. 8.

Holiday Food Drive

Please assist with our annual Holiday Food Drive for families in need and receive $3 off any new, renewed or gift subscription to the Morrisons Cove Herald.

Bring six or more canned or boxed food items to the Herald office and you'll receive a $3 credit on a one-year subscription. Food gifts will be donated to our local food banks.

This offer is good from Nov. 4 to Dec. 10.

Church Service Listing

The Herald wants to provide readers with area churches' Christmas activities, musicals and services in our Dec. 16 issue. Please send details to [email protected] by Dec. 1.
