Arland Keith Pittman, 91, of Martinsburg, passed away Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at Homewood at Martinsburg.

He was born Nov. 29, 1929, in Everett, son of the late Clyde Rollo Pittman and Mona (Conner) Pittman.

On March 16, 1951, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Arlene (Lashley) Pittman.

Along with his beloved wife of 70 years, he is survived by a son, Eric Pittman, of Martinsburg; a grandson, Ty Pittman, and great-granddaughters: Adalyn, Aubrey, and Avery of Altoona; a step-granddaughter Tori Akins (Mike) and step great-grandsons Ethan and Spencer of Altoona; sisters Velma Morris (Clyde) of Everett and Joyce Pittman of Pittsburgh; a sister in-law, Joyce Criswell, of Everett; a nephew, Kirt Morris, nieces Lana Timmins, Jill Payne, Connie Micatrotto, and Cindy Speck: and great-niece Becca Speck.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-laws Dan Dears, John Criswell, and Wilmer Lashley.

Arland attended Everett Area High School. Due to his father’s accidental death, he had to leave high school to help support his mother and younger sisters.

Arland actively served in the United States Navy from 1952 until 1956. He received his G.E.D. in the Navy in 1955.

After serving in the Navy, Arland was a long haul trucker for one year. He worked for the Harris Boyer Bread Co. from 1958 until 1963. He was a Prudential Insurance Agent from 1963 to 1971. In 1971, Arland established his own business, Pittman Insurance Agency.

He sold the agency in 1996. After retirement, he drove a school bus for the Spring Cove School District.

Arland was a member of Christ Church in Roaring Spring.

Arland was a member of the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department, Roaring Spring where he had served as fire marshall for a year and had also served as fire police.

In 1988, both Arland and Arlene received the Blair County’s Citizen of the Year Award for helping their neighbor and the police during a violent incident.

Arland enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating at Raystown Lake, watching car races on TV, and especially loved spending time with Arlene at their condo in Ocean City, Md., boating and fishing in the bay and eating seafood.

Arland devoted his life to his wife, family, and friends as well as service to his country, church and community. He will truly be missed.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, Nov. 20 2021, at the Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc, 734 New St., Roaring Spring from 2 until 5:00 p.m., followed by a service at the funeral home at 5:00 p.m. with the Rev. Joel C. Kletzing officiating and with military honors conducted by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard.

A private burial service will be held at the Everett Cemetery.
