Dragons Undefeated Season Earns Laurel Highlands Championship

The Dragons trounced the Somerset Eagles last Friday with a crushing 61-14 victory. This victory leaves the Dragons undefeated in the regular season and the number one ranked team in the Laurel Highlands conference.

The Dragons started their senior night game by kicking off to the Eagles, but shorty after, Parker Gregg recovered a fumble to give the Dragons possession. The next play, Jeff Hoenstine completed a 14-yard pass to Hunter Smith 26 seconds into the game for the Dragons first touchdown.

After another Central kickoff, the Dragons forced the Eagles to punt, putting the Dragons on Somerset's 37-yard line. This allowed the Dragon's to put another touchdown on the board with a one-yard pass to Ethan Eicher. The Dragons were able to put up five more touchdowns in the first half, including 24-yard, 30-yard, and seven-yard receptions by Gregg, another nine-yard reception for Eicher, and a 61-yard reception by Eli Lingenfelter. This pushed the Dragons to a halftime score of 47-7.

The Dragons scored two more times in the second half: once when Rylan Daugherty completed a 32-yard pass to Shalen Yingling, and another with a 45-yard run by Thade Mickel.

The now 10-0 Dragons will begin the first round of district playoffs by rematching the Westmont Hilltoppers this Friday, Nov. 5 at home.
