June A. Mountain, 85, of Salemville, passed away Oct. 22, 2021, at home.

She was born Dec. 24, 1935, in Charlesville; daughter of the late Harold and Gladys (Diehl) Whetstone.

Surviving June is husband Charles I. Mountain; daughter Barbara Thomas (John) of New Enterprise; daughter Karen Davidson (Jim) of Bedford; son James Mountain (Celeste) of New Enterprise; daughter Kimberly Rodgers (Steve) of New Enterprise; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; sister Margaret “Peg” Wachter; and wonderful caregivers Betty Sweinhart and Connie Ochoa.

June was preceded in death by siblings: David Whetstone, Florence Ritchey, Lee Whetstone, Edward Whetstone, Clyde Whetstone, Mary Ann Barger, Mildred Harr, and Harry Whetstone.

June was a graduate of Bedford High School and was a hard-working dairy farm wife.

She was a leader for 4H and Girl Scouts, a member of the Red Hat Society, and the Cove Community Club.

June enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, bird watching, but most of all, her family and church family.

She was a member of the St. John’s Reformed Church, Loysburg, where she was a part of the Women’s Guild.

A funeral took place Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, at St. John’s Reformed Church in Loysburg. Rev. Dr. David Meckley officiated. Interment was made in Lower Loysburg Cemetery.
