Janice Ellen May, 75, of Hollidaysburg, formerly of Martinsburg, passed away Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness.

She was born June 19, 1946, in Roaring Spring the daughter of the late Foster F. and Elizabeth R. (Hudson) Wineland. She was previously married to Ben L. May, who passed away Sept. 8, 2015.

She is survived by two sons: Matthew B. May and wife Jennifer of McKee, and Mason May and fiancee Renae Metz of Duncansville; five grandchildren: Meghan Lythgoe and husband Casey of Martinsburg, Mattie May of McKee, Lucy May, Tomi May, and Wyatt May, all of Duncansville; a sister, Joyce Butler and husband Jim of Tyrone; and two nieces: Emily Oakes of Warriors Mark and Abby Coffey of Tyrone.

Janice was a 1964 graduate of Central High School, where she was in the marching band.

She was owner/operator of her beauty shop, the Permanent Connection, for many years. Janice enjoyed bowling, Nascar, baseball, and she especially loved spending time with her grandkids.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Janice’s memory may be given to the Central High School Marching Band.
